For rail sail via Dublin/Holyhead, StenaLine and IrishFerries get into Holyhead around 11:50, train at 13:05 via Crewe, will get you to Edinburgh at 18:22. So not a runner for match on Saturday, might work for Friday folks. If you get the Friday night sailing, arriving at midnight, you have a 4hr wait in Holyhead for the train via Warrington to Edinburgh, arriving at 10:22 on Saturday.
For folk who need to work in Dublin on Friday, the stenaline sailing at 15:10 on Friday, works with trains to have you in Edinburgh for 7am, with not much waiting around. Irish ferries allow foot and rail sail passengers only on 8.05 and 20.55 Ulysses and all Swift sailings.
Eurolines Run Dublin-Belfast-> Glasgow - Edinburgh, timetable herehere . The 3.00am from Dublin would work perfectly for those leaving on Saturday. citylink.co.uk is the place to search, for those making way to Belfast independently. They use the bus to ferry, bus from ferry but walk onto the ferry as foot passenger method on this route. For the Clan bus, might be an option to see if you can bulk book seats from Cairnryan to Edinburgh. As for folks booking accom in Glasgow, it'd be possible to drop them in Glasgow on the route to Edinburgh.

Just walk out. Say nothing. I'm sure they will understand when they see you on the big screen in Murrayfield.

Actually, no, I think that's the "On Top Of The Moon" guy / girl.
Anyway, I still think getting visitors from other forums (fora?) is cool.
No, that's Disco (aka On Top of The Moon) on the Glasgow forum. He has a very unhealthy interest in spreadsheets! Could give you every stat you have ever wanted to know about anything.
I generally only post on the Glasgow and Leinster forums (joined it before the HEC final in Edinburgh) and a bit on here. I like to see what's going on in the world outwith the Glasgow bubble!

Just trying to be helpful.
I'm Irish, live in Glasgow and was in Edinburgh this year supporting you guys. My group for the semi are half Glasgow, half Connacht fans. The semi will be traumatic for me! So if you guys are make the final I'll be there with my glasgow shirt and Connacht flag

Here's the link for stenaline. www.stenaline.co.uk/ferries-to-britain/special-offers It's awkward to find as if you just go into their normal booking section it just gives the ridiculous prices.
£150 car +3 30 hour return any combination of sailings between belfast and cairnryan.
£185 car +4 30 hour return Dublin- holyhead.
They have done deals previously so will likely have rugby special ones given there will be at least one Irish team in the final.
Not sure re Clyde Travel. It took them to tuesday to advise their options for the semi which for most who would travel was too late as we all went for the cheapest option(s). Might be worth contacting them to see what they can offer but cut them some slack this week as they are trying to sort charter(s) for us!

No they haven't.
Clyde Travel (our official travel agent) have on behalf of pro12. Very few Glasgow fans would stay in Edinburgh.
If flights are too expensive look at ferries. Stenaline in their special offers section do car +4 for £185 return for sports events. 4 hours to Belfast, couple of hours sleep in boat, about 3 hours to Edinburgh. Or do the sensible thing and stay nowhere near the place. Yes it's a lot of driving but it would be worth it!
There are plenty of buses and trains from Edinburgh in all directions so forget about staying there.
I got my info on the Warriors supporters site....was trying to join their "supporters" club ( in a somewhat subversive angle to get tickets) for semi ...ferry on stena about €400 return ex Belfast.
Look on stenaline's special offers bit. Not their normal booking bit.
Was that you asking for the link for tickets?

Going to the Sportsgrounds is a bit like Mass:You stay until the players are off the pitch and never leave early!

Sail rail from Galway or Dublin to Edinburgh may be an option. The .train from Holyhead first goes South and you can change at Crewe for the one to Edinburgh. Leaving Dublin early on the morning of the 28th, it appears to me, means arriving in Edinburgh too late for the start of the game. There are other sail rail options that could be explored (Belfast and Liverpool).
A further bit of advice regarding any rail travel in the UK: there are different types of rail cards that give you reductions. Family, Network, Youth etc you name it. It can be worth getting one of these as, for instance, a network card gives a reduction for up to 4. The family one is very useful but you can only use it if you are travelling with at least one child (up to 4 adults get one third off and up to 4 children get 60% off). Now there is one for two people travelling together. In fact there is a bewildering array of 'offers' , however they could be important if you fly to some other place/city and use trains.

EnricoPalazzo wrote: Does anybody know anything about the official Guinness PRO12 Final accommodation. According to the pro12 website they and the SRU have blocked booked rooms at three Travelodge properties in Edinburgh.
www.pro12rugby.com/news/19559.php#tLXaCzgOcxs20M8A.97
According to the website they can be booked through Clyde Travel Management at £175 per room.
secure.clydetravel.com/public/bookings/S...mation.aspx?ao=1&i=2
However, you have to set up some sort of account and I’m dammed if I can figure out how to. Tried emailing them too but the server bounced it!
Just about ready to give up!
£180 for a Travelodge Room, feck that she-ite....:pinch:
There are cheaper options in Edinburgh i.e. lots of apartment with rooms to let, a very popular choice during the Festival....
