I know that maybe it wasn’t meant this way, but talking about genuine fans or real fans is not a good idea IMO. Everyone has the right to follow whatever team they want in whatever way they want. That might mean going to every match or just catching the odd one on the tv. It doesn’t mean that their support is somehow false, just less intense. Plus, you know today's casual fan is tomorrow's rabid supporter. That’s what happened to me! Let’s not put them off.
I know everyone already realises this but it’s probably worth mentioning again that posts on a forum can easily take on unintended connotations. So before posting it’s always worthwhile to ask yourself if what you have written could be taken the wrong way.
With that, I hope I'm not coming across all preacher like!!!

Nobody even had a disagreement as I had no issue with FACECUTTR from the start, that was a misunderstanding. The rest is simply bad puns based on use of a particular word. The discussion would be considered too polite to be posted on a hurling or football forum.FACECUTTR wrote: Why can't we all just get along.....

Yes, well maybe if what you'd heard was more in line with what I wanted to hear I wouldn't be so bloody sensitive. Now go bring me some good news.
Yes seconded, also maybe in future if we could see it in our hearts to refrain from painting public forums with those unsubstantiated negative hoop floaters whose progenitors are based in other fanboards, I would be deeply grateful

So you're saying it's "the greatest" least important debate you have ever seen in your entire life. High praise indeed Devil(my name too)Diabhal wrote: This is the least important argument I've ever seen.

FACECUTTR wrote: A couple of mentions of Bundee and Dillane re-signing on boards. Anybody hear anything yet ? Boshoff should arrive this week too.
Great post FACECUTTR. Hope you are spot on with this vine and hopefully it could happen as early as this week which would be brilliant news. Boshoff arriving is also great news, this team and squad is just getting stronger and stronger. Sky's the limit.

So if I say I at the eagles match on Sunday I saw tiernan bundee and Ronaldson all in a boot hopefully as a precaution and Niyi in a sling that would be ok. But at the same time if I say someone I was talking to said to me Ultan and Bundee are staying that would be bad?

This is paranoid in the extreme, but I for one welcome such old-skool chip-on-both-shoulders posts. Seriously, we wouldn't want to be getting soft, now, would we?
For the record there as many posts saying Dillane is going as staying on boards, though the "go" "source" is the same one that previously said Heenan had signed for Munster and we'd signed a Kiwi lock. So all I can tell you for sure is there is at least one alternate universe in which Heenan and Dillane are wearing red next year.
Think your referring to me there.
AFAIK, we had agreed terms with a Kiwi lock before the summer, the move was stalled and eventually blocked by the IRFU because Munster wanted to sign Jean Kleyn and they didn't want 2 overseas 2nd rows coming in at the same time.
RE Heenan, it took an 11th hour intervention from Lam to get him to stay, thought he was gone for sure.
RE Dillane, I'd be shocked if it turned out he re signed for us. But then again Henshaw almost backed out of the Leinster deal so it's possible too. However. I'm not holding out much hope.

What is a genuine supporter? I ask this as I could be called not a genuine supporter under some conditions. I don't live in Connaught anymore I'm in Dublin but I still have a season ticket, I go to the odd away match that I can. I like to talk to Connacht fans about things that may or may not happen regarding players for next season and even the possible starting lineup. I wonder aloud about the stadium and have my own ideas of what is best.
But every year more and more people will want to follow and support Connacht and if people have an attitude (not saying you do) that because I supported Connacht for longer or better then they won't stay. And we'll be back to averaging 2,500 for matches again
No criteria for a genuine supporter in my opinion you can live on Mars and still be one in my opinion as long as you bleed green (which may be a distinct possibility if you're a martian) and have Connachts rugby's interests to the fore in Rugby terms of course.
