Agree about Reid, he was named Man of the Match. I don't see Henshaw playing FB barring injuries especially against another province, sure Schmidt would not be happy to see it.

connachtexile wrote: Well that was f**king sickening. Here's my player ratings feel free to disagree as most of yous will.

15 Mills Muliania - (5) Worst game in a Connacht shirt missed some easy gimmes even with the wind swirl and just seemed to be off the pace. Was substituted for a reason.

14. Danie Poolman - (7) Nearly had a try and did everything that was expected of him. If he was quite for a period it's because the ball wasn't coming his way.

13. Robbie Henshaw - (7) Was marked well but was very good in defence. How he stopped Fitzgerald from scoring I'm still not sure of.

12. Bundee Aki - ( 9 ) - Connacht's man of the match. Everytime he got the ball he made yards. As for his defence I'm surprised he didn't take a life out there some of his hits were so huge. Needed more guys running off him to support him if he went to ground or for a soft pass.

11. Matt Healy - ( 8 ) - Is getting better and better as the season continues. He's dangerous everytime he gets the ball.

10. Jack Carty - (7) - A mixed bag but the wind was fierce in the second half. Nothing to be ashamed of.

9. Kieran Marmion - (6) - Industrious but made some silly mistakes. When he saw Rodney rise during the 7 man scrum he dawdled on passing the ball which cost us points. Got better as the game progressed.

8. George Naopou - (7) - Scored a try and did well in all the rucks & mauls. Decent game.

7. Eoin Mckeon - (7) - Hit every ruck going and then some.

6. John Muldoon - ( 8 ) - Did the captains job with aplomb and communicated to the ref well. A good shift by him.

5. Ally Muldowney - (5) - Gave away a dumb penalty and got yellow carded for it. It's needless ill-discipline like this that have and will cost us matches.

3. Rodney Ah You (6) - Had a tough time with Bent but seemed to find it easier with McGrath. Our scrum was fantastic in the second half.

2. Tom McCartney - ( 8 ) - He was everywhere in defence. What a signing.

1. Denis Buckley - (7) - Destroyed Van Dyck and gave Furlong a tough game. Was his usual busy self around the field.

Subs:

Daragh Leader (5) - Not jumping on a ball that was passed back into him.

Caolin Blade (6) - Did alright but another that was responsible for the try at the end. As this is his 5th game ever at this level gets some bit of a pass.

Ultan Dillane (7) - Great performance with two superb catches and did great work in the maul.

Ronan Loughney (6) - Keep the scrum ticking over.

Everybody has 5 out of 10 or more, and I agree with this. not a bad game overall. with Heenan and White, I think we'll have the best 23 we've ever had. Aki/Henshaw were very good taking into account the rush defence

we didn't play well for the first 20 minutes and the last 5 minutes, apart from that I thought we dragged ourselves back into the game quite well. Still think leaving arguably our best defensive and form center completely out of the team was a mistake, still not convinced Mils has enough in the tank, Hnenshaw should have started at 15. Also George shouldn't have been doing the one handed carries in those conditions.

noone really took the game by the scruff of the neck but conditions really mess up amy continuity for both teams. best player on the pitch was probably noel Reid.

I was at the game. We had a good wind in the first half but didnt use it well. The writing was on the door when we were struggling so much in the first half . Lack of direction.
leinster were savage in their defence and fighting for the ball in rucks and also lucky.
I thought Marmion tried to take it on too much. And when he was passing to runners it was telegraphed with little support.
I thought Henshaw was quiet . Yes marked man excuse but i was expecting more. Id have liked to see the backs work harder with giving options to marmion in the 10-12 channel. leinster just lined up our slow lads and hit them.
Carty some nice few kicks but not enough. The idea to run it out against a flat Leinster defence was madness from your own line . He had a few low kicks in behind which he needed more and a few chips.
Bundee. Made a few breaks but just didnt punch big enough holes. I could do without his high fives routine to everybody after he des something good. Feck it get back in line what does he want a medal.
There were times when it looked like we had numbers outside but didnt use them. Healy and poolman needed more chances.
Scrum wasnt great against a makeshift leinster frontrow. We needed more penalties and success but didnt get it. Roux was very goot as was Douglas .
Reid and Luke looked the better centre pairing
Very disappointed to not hold the bonus in the end. I watch Leinster strike at teams like that on a regular basis and was sickened .

i saw it on tv which obviously gives a different perspective. Not right or wrong just different. I agree that alot of our passes were telegraphed which made it easier.

The mckeon at 7 idea should be shelved . His an 8 or 6. We were lacking the cuteness of a 7 and the clean ball. Jennings made hay
We miss Jake but Faloon should have started.
Its not like Mckeon is making mistakes . His just not fast enough to get on the end of things that we need to keep going .

Didn't think Muldoon or McKeon were awful good, we got destroyed at the breakdown. Marmion had a far tougher game against boss than he's ever had against reddan. Roux was very good again. Dillane looked good when he came on.

So disappointing. Innumerable unforced errors, I don't think we would have deserved a LBP. Shocking switch-off from Leader at the end there. We bottled that game, we're capable of so much more.

Blues have 2 gimmes against Dragons while we play interpros. They could be on top of us in a fortnight.

Connacht too naive, in the end they didn't deserve anything from this game so they got what they deserved.
