Connacht played really well and if they can be consistent teams will find it hard to beat them. They seem a bit limited in attack but their defence was pretty solid (despite what the score says). Glasgow threw everything including the kitchen sink at them in the first 20mins and fair play to Connacht for sticking in.
Hi folks
That was me (I think!). Just wanted to say again the game was a lot closer than the score line suggests.
Without meaning to be condescending or offensive Glasgow are aiming for a home semi final minimum this year whereas I think Connacht are aiming to be at least 3rd best Province. We are now at the stage where we (rightly of wrongly) expect to beat most teams at home. Especially in the Pro12. Given the start you guys have had I sincerely hope you go on to do that and should be aiming for a top 6 finish.
Regards the stadium announcer there were 5800 odd in scotstoun on Friday- that would be considered a pretty good end of season crowd for us last year so to have it at 2nd home game, during Ryder Cup weekend which wasn't too far up the road, against one of the perceived smaller teams is good going for us. The aim is to obviously build on that.
Good luck for the rest of the season and I hope to make the trip to Galway in April.

Didn't shame ourselves by any means, Scottish press had lots of good things to say about us, particularly about Buckley.
After our debate before the game on whether players should be rested or should we look to keep momentum, it looks like St. Pat found a good compromise: 6 of our likely starting pack for next week had limited or no gametime this week:
Buckley - subbed before the hour
White - 2nd half substitute
Kearney - 2nd half substitute
Roux - played second half
McKeon - subbed before the hour
Faloon - did not travel
Next Friday's game is huge now, more so than the Leinster game really - lose and they're just 2-4 points behind us, win and they're 9-12 points behind us. Can't wait.

Take the intercept try outnof it and it would have been a fairer reflection on the game. Like the game last week we were defending most of the time but scored almost every time we got into there 22. We were going full tilt for the fourth try and looked like we'd get it too when they got the intercept .
There charge down try was in no way porters fault, leader was slow and stepped forward into the block in the process of kicking. He knew it himself, you could see it in his reaction .
Our scrum was at worst on par and a lot of the time on top, strangely though we were stronger on our own put in but very static on there's.
Carry had a poor enough game, one or two decent kicks for touch and that was about it. The penalty try was absolutely correct, our scrum was running them back and driving for the line, it was there scrum half interfering with George picking the ball that forced the penalty.
The wind was very strong like and going in all directions so porters conversions which were all from the touch line were seriously good kicks
On a general.note, the stadium announcer made a big deal of the fact that it was the biggest crowd of the season so far and he made an even bigger deal of the fact that it was a bigger crowd than the Leinster game, not really sure why to be honest. Speaking to some of the.Glasgow supporters in the beer queue at half time and they were sure we would win it, wasn't so sure myself.

I'd imagine they'll pop up somewhere. They showed the tries on TG4 this evening which I'd imagine will be on their player soon enough I'd imagine. Couple of poor tries conceded from a Connacht viewpoint.
some (low quality) highlights

Glasgow do it with matawalu to get his talents into team as he's not their no 1 scrumhalf. It allows them to have 2 impact backs on bench and he moves to scrumhalf in final quarter. It's worth a look imo. Could be the difference.
Weirdly enough I tend to agree with this crazy idea! but only if Poolman/Healy are unavailable
I think its about time we went full French on it and made Marmion our primary kicker with Porter and Cooney as back ups. I'm not sure if he ever took the kicks at underage level but he's a hard worker, I'm sure he'll figure it out in a week or two.
I don't have a problem with that if marmion proves to be a reliable kicker. In mean time though I reiterate that a place has to be found for porter who can kick. Carty and leader played against Glasgow but porter kicked the goals which says that lam thinks that porter is a better kicker than connachts previous two front line kickers which can't be ignored imo.

I am right that seven qualify as of right amn't I?
Interesting match schedule for us after the European Games in Jan.
During the 6 Nations window we play the 3 Welsh sides that are mentioned above. Scarlets & Dragons away in Feb, Cardiff away in early March, when all their International players will be out of action.
We also have Munster away at the end of March before their Internationals come back as well.
(Ignoring the Italians for the moment) We then finish off with playing 3 of the top teams Ulster, Glasgow and Ospreys at home to end the season. With that match schedule and the NZ lads still to join the team a top 6 place finish should be well within our reach.
