One instance of Loughney coming in form the side (almost from the munster side of the ruck) was pure headless
That's one of the things that kills me about Loughney he can be a penalty machine sometimes. Seems like it was a worthwhile contest for both teams. Hopefully Gilsenan's injury isn't to bad.

Was an enjoyable game to watch from the spectators POV, both sets of coaches wont be. Both defenses were porous enough.
From a Connacht point of view, we shouldnt have lost. Both of O'Mahony's tries were easily defendable, just lost our shape. We dominated in the scrum but Philips[MEANT LACEY I THINK] wasnt giving the rewards. Lineout was solid, Dineen had a good outing, his throw needs work though, not even near the zip required at a higher level.
Backline were decent, Healy really stood out as a class above while he was on. Poolman looked rusty initially but effective all game. Took a nasty spear tackle late on from a Munster sub (no number on his back so couldn't tell who) that hurt him I reckon. Leader took his hat-trick well, good finishing on the first and 3rd. TBH the second was all about about carty's pass. I could have finished it after that
Negative were discipline, it was shocking.
I was annoyed about Connachts discipline, especially from the senior players. One instance of Loughney coming in form the side (almost from the munster side of the ruck) was pure headless
Freyners wrote: Gavin was average, what he is supposed to bring at this stage is surety under the high ball and defensive solidity. He missed a 50-50 ball that munster got a try off directly which he will be sickened over but its clear Robbie is a better 15 and some of the younger lads are there or close enough to him that hes place isnt he squad is under severe threat.
Layden looked dangerous on the ball when he came on for healy, as did parata during his cameo. Finn was lively all day as well
Healy should come back into the team, hard to drop either winger considering they both played very well but he offers a similar level of linebreaking threat as both with greater solidity in defensive imo.
Leader had a great day at 12 in a try scoring sense, but he didnt dominate the game in a way that would make him stand out. Realistically he was very out of position at 12 today, he is a FB/13 mostly. As i said before, finished well. But he is not a threat to McSharry/Griffin/Henshaw. Could sneak into the 23 for his versatility.
With Carty its difficult to say. Nikora did nothing wrong since he came back but he is not a long term OH for us at this stage. Carty might be, but he needs work on his decisions and kicking imo. Has a lovely soft pass and does well at putting people into space. There was one or two moments were a kick was probably a better option when we were making zero ground in open play. If carty comes onto the bench for dragons i wouldnt complain.

Did Conor Gilsenan get injured?
F*ck I hope not. It's not great when the injury cover gets injured. How did Dineen do?

Poor luke o dea stuck there when he showed class last season.
O'Dea is good but Ronan O'Mahoney is better in my opinion can't beleive how few starts he's gotten this season. Maybe he was injured? Van der Heever looks speedy but I wasn't impressed with his skillset in the few games I've seen him in.
So Quentin McDonald is making his Munster debut against us. Should hopefully bring up some Munster fans who want to check him out. Spend some money in town.

Indeed, if only he could stay fit a full season we might see just how very good he is.

Munster have either 3 or 4 hookers injured at present, it's hard to keep up.
To be honest I get annoyed when any player we let go plays on3 decent game and gets labelled as Another Connacht F*uckup. We have enough real ones without having to invent some:
Monahan was permacrocked when he was here. when he left us he could only get a Championship contract, was very good there. At Gloucester he missed 3 months of last season, and scored just one premiership try. He made hay in the LV and Amlin though. He has made only 4 starts this season, though in fairness 2 of these were in the HEC and he scored 2 against Perpignan and was excellent in Munster. so at best he is an injury-prone late developer, hardly a star we let slip through our fingers.
As for Fanning, I thought he was useless when he was here, he has spent years since without a fulltime contract, and regardless of his notional numbering s a wing, has been used as a mediocre extra flanker loitering out wide for Leinster in some Rabo games this season. His main contribution has been running back kickoffs into contact, which in fairness he does really well. Otherwise he provides a lot of running up and down and honest effort and little else. His first decent game (and first Leinster try) was against Glasgow, when he was bizarrely awarded MOTM. At least he had the honesty to point out that he was at fault for the try that let Galsgow back into the match.
So no slur on Mr. O'Byrne when I say his appearance in a red shirt is more indicative of staffing issues at Munster than here.
That's why it was just a question with an alternative.. And I didn't say either Fanning or Monahan was a "star", just try to balance with what we have and they clearly hold the comparison with Carr Healy or TOH (not with Poolman, who is pure gold in my opinion)

He is nice guy but don't think we missed out on too much, maybe I'm wrong but we won't know till few years at least and after he gets good coaching. Good luck to him
Himself and ger slattery were called into the munster squad to train.
Also as you said fanning, anyone who missed leinster vs Glasgow, fanning got man of the match for an leinster team that had 4 former connacht players (starting?) Croinin macca reddan and fanning
