I was having a look at my geek sheet last night going through the amount of points we had last season against the same opposition as we have played this year. With the same 14 games as we have played this term, last season we got a total of 28 points with the remaining 8 games yielding only another 10 points.
So our current total of 17 pts is 11 short of where we were last season but equally if (granted it's a huge if) we can get 21 pts left from the last 8 games we would have equalled last season points total which would represent a decent recovery.
Two wins in our next 2 games against Zebre and Treviso could potential leave us needing 13 pts from the remaining 6 games.
Apologies if my explanation is unclear but essentially I reckon we could still match our points total from last season. Granted that won't be enough to get us into the HC next year by the looks of current proposals but personally my one aim every season in the league is that we improve our previous seasons pts total and in that context the season is still very much alive.
Two wins in a row have given me the strength to finally look at the table. Obviously the first thing Connacht must do is win Saturday against Treviso. If they lose there is no salvaging this season considering 4 of their last 6 games are away. Even with a win Saturday they will need to win both home games and grab a point from each of their away games to get to 38 point. Based on what has happened so far this season, that is a tall order especially with Munster being one of the home matches. If they can sneak a win against the Dragons or Scarlets I'd feel a lot better about their chances. 38 points are not beyond them and as you said it would be a decent recovery.

Not I in any event. I'd imagine it may have had more to do with supplier issues than anything else. (There wasn't much gear to be had in the big shops, never mind the trailer at the SG)

Am I to understand from this that one of our PGB is "in" NAMA, to use that lovely phrase?
And does anyone in the committee know if this turn of events has anything to do with the understocked (and sometimes just closed) nature of the merchandising outlet at the Sportsground on matchday, or for that matter our shrinking online sales platform?
Really had hoped the hamfisted days were over.

Don't forget to have them sow salt into the playing pitch. :S
I'm glad a couple of days time has given you a chance to put the loss in its proper perspective, TD&D.
