It wouldn't surprise me at all. History shows that coaches prefer traditional type 10s to the more off the cuff variety. Campbell/ward, priest land/hook spring to mind. Even when carter came on scene first many thought that Carlo Spencer offered more threat.
GOP Perth is a very decent 10 who didn't come to warm the bench. He also gets first posession of the jersey.

The rumour coming out of Leinster is that Matt O'Connor and Ian Madigan have hit it off badly since the coach came on board. Apparently O'Connor believes that Gopperth can get his backs going better; I don't believe its Madigan's attitude as he is meant to be a smashing lad who works his socks off in training. I think O'Connor is just putting manners on him given the assumption he would be #1, but you never know...we can only dream!
