Toulouse or wasps or a draw what do we want

Toulouse switch off and Wasps snatch it at the end. We need something next week now. Going to be a tense afternoon next Sunday.

Am i right in thinking we need a point, or two points if Toulouse get the try bonus point.....definitely doable but need to really sort the defense as as good as we were going forward today we conceded a try basically every time they had the ball in our half.

That's it exactly. If Toulouse win and deny us a bonus point they finish ahead of us. If they win with a tbp and we get one bonus point, they finish ahead. If they get the tbp win and we get two bonus points, we're through. A draw or a win of any sort for us puts them put.

So we need to score 4 tries and we *should* be alright. May as well go for the 5 pointer and top the pool.

I think :
A win 5-0 or 5-1 will get us First
A win 4-0, 4-1 or 4-2 will get us Second (Wasps will have better Match Points Head to Head)
A draw 2-2, 2-3, 2-3 or 3-3 will get us Second
A loss 1-4 or 2-5 will get us Second
A loss 0-4, 0-5 or 1-5 will get us Third (Toulouse will have better Match Points Head to Head)

In truth it is probably better that they are not going into Toulouse needing just to deny a try BP win. They'll need to be more focused and play positive rugby which is more their style. Not that they wouldn't have either way, but they should just go in with the goal to win. Should be a very good game.

Thanks for that. Gonna print that out for Sunday. There could be a lot of head scratching in the stadium at the end of the game.

Agree Pinky. A bonus point loss, or draw sees us second in the group and almost certainly the best second place.

A LBP will not be enough if Toulouse get BP win - unless we get a try BP also!

The simplest way to look at it is, we cannot allow Toulouse to get 4 or more match points more than us
Toulouse get 5, we need 2
Toulouse get 4, we need 1

It's good in that regard. We know exactly whats needed. The easiest way to make sure that we qualify, is to win.
Our number 1 target is to win, so take all points on offer
Our number two target is to not allow Toulouse to score tries, so we need to avoid giving away penalties, as they'll go to the corner as often as possible

We need to dominate possession, so that they have less chance of scoring. We need to avoid knock ons, as we gave away too many penalties from scrums in the reverse fixture. We also need to keep the score board ticking over. When we have chances, we need to take them.

Anyone fancy summarising the most likely permutations for next week?

I won't be able to travel abroad for a quarter final, so I need us to qualify, and draw Leinster or Munster. Is that too much to ask for?
