Connacht travel to Newport to play the Dragons in the first away game of the season

A small Connacht Clan crew will be travelling over. Always room for a few more.

When: Friday September 16th, 19:30
Where: Rodney Parade, Newport

Tickets

Tickets are available online from the Dragons ticketing website. The Clan are booked into Hazell B, Row A, so grab a seat there or go for the Hazell terrace and base yourself in front.

Getting there

Flights to Cardiff are available with FlyBE, thought they depart very early.

Best option is to fly to Bristol. There are direct buses from Bristol Airport to Newport.

There is a flight from Knock with Ryanair on Friday, though none back on Saturday. You have to wait until Sunday to get back to Knock. There are a few on the Knock flight and some on the early Ryanair on Friday. A good few are returning on the Saturday afternoon Ryanair flight to Dublin. There are direct buses from the airport to Newport, though the times are not that convenient. You can get a shuttle to the train station and there are regular trains to Newport from there.

Accommodation

There are a few options in Newport, though a lot of the better hotels are on the outskirts of town. The Queen's Hotel is central and good value. The Travelodge is also cheap and well located.

Hospitality

The Lamb is owned by former captain Lewis Evans. We will gather there in the afternoon. The Pen and Wig is a good local pub. Urban Tap House in the City Market building has a great range of beers.

Things to see

The Newport Transporter Bridge is worth a look, if you're into weird bridges that seemed like a good idea at the time.
