ZebreConnacht2017

Join the Connacht Clan in Murty Rabbitt's this Saturday when Connacht Rugby take on Zebre Rugby in a crucial Pro14 Conference clash.

Don't forget to book your place on the Clan bus to Munster! Tickets start at €25 for members (€15 for juniors) and are available now. Spaces are limited so book to avoid disappointment!

There are also still some seats left on the bus from Bordeaux airport to Brive next weekend. Both trips can be booked online in the Connacht Clan Shop.

Connacht Women take on Munster in the Sportsground at 2.30, so you should be able to catch the second half of that after the Zebre game in Rabbitt's.

Thank you. 2 and a half years I'm waiting for that.
Maybe for Brive this Saturday!

I'd like to see Ili/Niyi/Leader back-3
And Dawai to start. Once.

Ronaldson could play out half, he played there before, he’s a good goal kicker prob the best we have

Agree with all of this and would add we need an outhalf with the ability and confidence to boss the backline. He needs to have the ability to read the opposition game plan, come up with a strategy to counteract act and communicate it to the rest of the backline and make sure it's executed properly. If something isn't working, then change it but if it isn't working because certain individuals aren't doing their job properly, then talk to them and get them up to speed with the rest. I'm not sure that either Carty (Despite glimpses of his undoubted ability) Crosbie or Deegan (Not enough game time to make a judgement) are good enough to fill this role but since these are the only candidates we have, then we need someone to work with them and get the best from them in order to determine the full extent of their ability. Surely Eric Elwood could take some time from his academy duties to work with them on a one to one basis.

Think people need to take a step back and be a bit more reasonable. No one can say that was a good performance, not even close!, but Zebre are not the shambles they used to be, which is good for the league, so losing to them is not quite the disgrace it might once have been.

KK is in his first season here, having missed preseason, so it's going to take time to settle in and get his game plan in place. Some players won't be able to adapt to it and they will need to move on and we'll get in some guys who better suit his game plan, that's the way it goes. He has enough pedigree to suggest that, given time, he will get it right.

There were plenty of calls for Pats head when we shipped 50 to Sarries and that worked out ok. No one is happy with where we currently are or how we are playing, but calling out individual players and coaches is not the answer.

Although it was a very poor performance on Saturday people are posting on here as if we have been at the top table for decades.
That great year which culminated in a never to be forgotten day In Edinburgh the like of which we will never see again.
Although it's not looking too promising so far I think it's after next season we can rightly see what kk has in his locker
We need to give him and the players some TIME AND SUPPORT there only getting to know each other and his methods
people posting calling for players heads is rubbish it's not that long ago we were losing 9/10 games on the bounce.

Deegan promise raises 2 questions : can he kick 70% to the post at least, and is he tall/sharp enough to really start massive games in Pro12/14/Europe

I think Marmion has got very bulky from the waist down, reminds me of some GAA players who get over conditioned; he has lost his zip for sure. Same happened to BOD mid career before he skimmed down again

Deegan has been given very little game time and no chance to bed in and show if he has potential.
A ten especially needs some settled game time in my opinion.
I would like see Crosbie get another chance, almost everybody played very poorly, so we shouldn't single him out,
Also it seemed like an awkward first half wind for the penalties he missed, the Zebre kicker missed far easier penalties at that end of the field.

Munster fans were suggesting when he signed that they could still offload him after a season, I'm sure there tune has changed now that he's their in-form ten.

I think working with different coaches and a different system could help Carty improve his game, for me he hasn't improved much the past 2 seasons. If we win the away Brive game I'd like to see Deegan and Mitchell start together at home.

On a separate note, I think SOB, Butler, and McKeon should be our first choice back row when all are fit.

I read KK wants to change up the team every game as it's so a small squad he does not want to loose any big player to injury.
By rotating the team and we do loose a player the is a stand out in player ready and up to speed.

My gut feeling on this is 7 to 9 changes in every game is too much.
KK maybe right long term, but we need short term results or we will start to loose our players to bigger teams.

ROG constantly says on the hard yards podcast after coming back to Munster from Ireland he needs 3 games to get back on form.
I would agree with ROG on this and not KK.

Also.
Our 10's are very poor, i know we do not have the budget for a big 10. We need a Dan Parkes calibre player to guide the younger players.
Not sure who is available.

Worrying thing is, this is a 3rd year calling for this

I would not say no to Ian Keatley for a season or two. Think Jack should be let go somewhere else with a view to proving himself and coming back a better player, he's stagnated with us.

Hugely embarassing display and result. We've spurned the opportunity to build on the heroics of '15/16, and yesterday quite frankly was disgraceful.
I agree with all the comments on here about there being no Keane philosophy. Is the guy out of his depth as a Head Coach?
Only Delahunt, Dillane, Mitchell (when he came on) and Farrell could be happy with the shifts they put in yesterday, with the jury being out on Ahki. O'Halloran was hopeless and fellas like Dawai, Cannon, Crosbie, and Carty just aren't up to Pro12 standard. Simple as.....

I would be concerned that there are problems in the dressing room. Perhaps there are more players moving on that we have not heard of yet. But I think Connacht have a genuine chance of getting to the challenge cup final. If they can get their act together for the two games against Brive it could bind them altogether again and get over this hump.

Only managed to watch the match now, so very disappointing! It feels like the worst performance I've seen from Connacht since before Pat took over 4 years ago! Worse even then been beaten out the gate by Glasgow in the Sportsground at the beginning of last year.
We never really never looked like we put them under pressure until late in the second half. Zebra didn't challenge at the ruck, packed the wings and had great line speed, and yet we continued all match to try to spin it wide when we probably need to truck it up to suck in the defence first. Lots of individually decent performances, thought Ulten gave it socks, but overall we looked poorly coached and tactical inept.

We've all seen lots of Connacht losses over the years, and I don't mind loosing provided we go down fighting but as far as I can seen we need to sort things out quickly as there is still half of the season left, and on tonight’s performance its looking like we could easily be propping up the table with Ospreys come next May!

If we see a big change of tactics and catch out Brive with the kicking game and the intensity we brought to the Munster game I'll be happy.
If we win away Brive won't bother too much with the return leg.
We all used to say in Lam we trust and now we should give KK a bit of trust.

Just watched the game on TG4 catch-up. Disappointing result for sure but some of the flippant comments on here are undeserved. Excluding the final 12 mins we hadn't played well but were well within a shot of winning the game. The ball bounced kindly for the two Zebre tries; if we'd had a rub of the green the result could've been very different. Connacht have been in the doldrums in the past (and probably again in the future) but if you look at how things currently stand we could still end up with Champions Cup qualification which is the goal for this season. Thankfully we can park the Pro14 for a few weeks and concentrate on the Challenge Cup. I'd love if we made it a real go of it - an away day in Bilbao with the Clan would be a fantastic season end fixture.

I was disgusted and very annoyed with today's performance, but think you are out of order with your comments, one thing, apart from today, is Connacht have managed to box way above their weight and always give 100%.
That is why they have had my ( and many others) support for many years.

Today was very worrying and disappointing, but what Connacht have always had - apart from today - is spirit and commitment.
These are good players that is why we are annoyed - I'm seriously pissed off with probably one of the worse Connacht performances, I've witnessed.
But in my opinion, and with all due respect, your comments are way out of line.
