Connacht got the best of the Scarlets to see them grab 8 points from the opening two games of the season.

The game started with a good intesity, seeing Connacht get the better chances in the first half. Fa'afili linked well with Griffen, who set Jarvis barrelling towards the line, just to be stopped short. Another opportunity was missed when Fa'afili was stopped just short of the line 10 minutes later and almost put Gavin Duffy over the line, but the offload from the deck just failed to connect. A try-less first half ended 3-6 to the Scarlets.

After half time Scarlets worked hard to secure a penalty after 3 minutes, which they kicked to the corner. The line-out was won by Connacht but scarlets managed to turn over the ruck and quick hands put their lock Spinger through. The try went unconverted.

This seemed to spark some life into Connacht who mauled into the Scarlets half, and then picked a fight. Swifty and Rob McCusker were sent off, and the Clan Terrace went bananas. Absolutely bananas.

Loughney and George combined to make some great yards, before Fa'afili found his way past 3 Scarlets defenders, and off-loaded to the supporting Mark McCrea. McCrea did extremely well to pick an excellent line and there was no stopping him from there, and Jarvis added the extras. Continued pressure from Connacht saw the Scarlets cough up a penalty with about 15 minutes left, which Niall O'Conner (on for Jarvis) slotted expertly. Connacht held on at to win the match 13 points to 11.
