Brilliant.
So you're saying he's like the movie Highlander.
We can't lose today.

He never gets enough credit for the two Olympic Gold Medals he won in the 1920s

Since many of John's tries were scored before the invention of television, much less the hinternets, I've only been able to find 9 of them on the you-tuuube:

CC Q/F April 2010 try vs. Bourgoin (bonus points for spotting a somewhat sunburnt Pinky in the crowd, not that I could talk myself on that count on said day)

March 23 2014 - 2 tries vs. Newport Dragons

November 14 2015 - try vs. Enesei (from 4:45)

January 16 2016 - 2 tries vs. Brive (from 1:13:05 & 1:44:30 director misses it, replay only)

January 22 2017 try vs. Toulouse (from 9:39)

March 3 2017 try vs. Zebre (from 2:03, director misses it, replay only)

March 25 2017 try vs. Glasgow (from 0:57)

Meant to update this - the official word from the branch (one of the Craggy lads was kind enough to indulge my more pedantic tendencies and ask) is they don't award caps for friendlies, even against international opposition, and that therefore Mul's 300th official appearance is indeed against Leinster. Question answered, let's hope the team celebrates the right way with a victory over Leinster.

From Connacht FB page:

Milestone man John Muldoon is in line to make his 300th competitive appearance for his home province this weekend against Leinster.

Some achievement for our captain fantastic! #Mul300

300 people have to wear green connacht caps and after the game throw them to Mul. Only when he collects them all has he 300 Connacht caps

Never mind about the specifics of the 300th Cap, just declare the day of the Leinster game "John Muldoon Day" regardless, and as a part of the day do a presentation for achieving 300 Caps...:)

That goes without saying, Mul can do whatever he wants in my book freedom of the city and drive his flock of sheep over the quincentennial bridge on the weekend of a Connacht final in pearse stadium for and I wouldn't say a word to him.

But it's not a hard thing to work out and while the Leinster game would be ideal , if it's not his 300th game then why open it up to ridicule by saying it is.

Then that becomes the story that Connacht can't count as opposed to celebrating a giant of a man in the green jersey!

Courage is knowing what lies on the other side and still opening the door.

To quote Mark Wahlberg in Three Kings, "well it is and it isn't, baby".

67 European caps
epcrugby.com/matchcentre/player_archive....6&includeref=dynamic

230 league caps
(can't link to his Pro12 record as their site's crap)

John came off the bench against Samoa in 2010, can confirm this game was capped by Connacht according to IRFU website - "Winger Shane Monahan, who was making his competitive debut for Connacht, tries to shrug off Samoa's Jamie Helleur"
www.irishrugby.ie/mobile/european/1380.php#&ui-state=dialog

So that means he's on a *minimum* of 298 caps.

He missed the Portugal game in 2008, and Mul played against an Ireland XV in 2011 but I'm pretty sure this game wasn't capped on our side, the game was organised at quite short notice, outside the November window (when most "minor tests" are played), and Ireland weren't playing as Ireland, if you know what I mean.

So it comes down to South Africa in 2007: if Connacht capped this - and I'd expect they did - then he reaches 300 if he plays in Parma; if not he needs one more. If anyone can confirm or contradict please do!

What I can tell you is if he plays every week between this and then, the Leinster game will *absolutely* not be his 300th cap. Therefore my money's on Connacht celebrating that night. Nice that despite our massive improvements we can still do the hokey old incompetent province thing for nostalgia's sake every now and again.

Maybe there's a bit of alternative facts going on so that Mul will reach his 300th at a Massive HOME GAME...
