 That's what I get for not watching the highlights with sound on or paying attention to the scorers list.

Edit: I guess the sound wouldn't have helped as much as maybe reading the screen.

Also, have to say looking at that again, I know they had at least a two man overlap for their first try so not much TOH could have done but the optics of him playing tag rugby wouldn't be helping his case with Joe.

Have to admit I had a good laugh when I saw that :D

Certainly in this case it was clearly slapped further forward so it would have been easier to call, but since it never hit the ground the ref let it go. Probably benefited from there not being a TMO available as they seem to review any try with any hint of a problem.

The try was disallowed for the knock on.

Those first two tries conceded by Treviso are actually embarrassing at any level but its another try for Caolin Blade. He's made a strong impression the last few weeks. While I'm sad to see an excellent scrum half in John Cooney leaving its one decision which I think makes sense for everyone. Caolin Blade has proven enough in the gametime he has got that he is up to it and with more gametime next season will be able to develop further. We also have Kerins who looks a good prospect.

Bad phrasing on my part. He must have control before the ball hits the ground or another player, or before he kicks it. Since he did not have control of the ball before his kick, knock on.

I thought the try was good initially too, and had to check it.

Just had exactly this conversation. If you push/slap the ball forward with your hand you must get control of the ball before it hits the ground/another player or you kick it. Jack never had control of the ball so knock-on.

I agree that Jack didn't have control of the ball. I agree he pushed/slapped the ball forward. But as you say he must kick it and he did kick it? So he met the criteria you set down?

I don't think we should overlook the fact that Blade apparently fended off a prop so hard that he fell down like he'd been shot!

Jack himself had a look back like 'did I get away with that/is that legal?' Just on style points though it deserved to be let go.

Highlights up now.

The first two the defending is appalling, the bonus point try is a peach.

I wouldn't sweat that.

We were 34-5 up and pulled both props, our captain/pack leader, and backs totem, then spent the last 15 with our sub hooker playing openside. Once the 5 points was secured resting players and getting out of dodge ahead of a 5 day turnaround with a minimum of injuries clearly took precedence over denying Treviso consolation scores.

On a less positive note we have now scored 29 tries in 4 games against Italian opposition, and just 28 in the other 17 games!

and i completely agree and appreciate that, but still.....it's a mentality thing and I think the great teams and cultures have it....
