I don't know the ins and outs but €400+k is massive money for Connacht regardless of what way its sugarcoated (for example: we could have another level put on the stand pretty much) so if this has disappeared down a black hole we need to know. If you want supporters to back Connacht there needs to be transparency.

A safe pair of hands will probably be chosen now which is fine in the short term but in terms of growing the Connacht brand we can't have a jobs for the boys type situation if we are to ever move forward.

That isn't always an indication that his departure is a good thing, "Turkeys" & "Christmas" springs to mind... ;)

That is some high class underdogging, connachta! All we have to do is find a billionaire Russian magnate with a grandparent from Castlebar and we'll be laughing.....

Well if Josh Lewsey can take up the reins at the WRU, it could literally be anyone. No doubt the IT will have more information in the coming days/weeks - will watch with a keen eye, but hopeful that the board are taking positive steps. I'd rather that they took their time and got the right man than just shoe horned in someone for the sake of it. We're better than that.

A lot of off field distractions atm which cannot be helping the players or Pat. We need to stick to facts as much as possible. Orherwise we're no better than the Indo.

New job for Swifty next year?!!!

Not sure he has the business background required, but would be good to see some former players involved in off-field roles for the province once their playing careers finish.

He runs his own cosmetics business according to the Supporters Guide.
I knew that free gift would prove invaluable!

Onwards and upwards, now, though. Horse has bolted, milk has been spilt and other such idioms.

Who do we get in? More importantly who can we afford? We still need a CEO who will happily lock horns with the IRFU, otherwise we run the risk of going backwards quickly.

And the first person who says "Eric for CEO" get's zero points for comedy effort.

Disappointing news and doubly disappointing that its announced now, whether it is related to the overspend or not it will be connected in most peoples minds from now on, especially those outside the province.

Sad news. He was exactly what we needed when he arrived, not interested in keeping his head below the parapet. My biggest worry was his CV showed he never stayed in one place for very long, and this is his shortest tenure of the lot.

I admired his willingness to shout and get in the IRFU's face, but with this level of commitment now I'm just wondering if it was all an act.

Moved these into the Overspend thread because there is simply no way that they are not related...
