Would appear dropkick murphys are pretty selective about who uses shippin' as their entrance anthem

I was thinking about this for a long time and the Chiefs chanting made me realise we don't have anything that makes us stand out. It's time we got some chant going. It will take a while to settle in to the fans brains but it can happen.
I also agree with the West's Awake. It's a slow enough song but it can be sung with real passion.

This is perfect I believe.
From 3:17 to 4:15. It's less than a minute long. I'm sure it would sound amazing on the big nights in the Sportsground.
It would give Fields of Athenry a run for it's money.
Obviously some of the words will need to be changed but this is do-able.

Also, as DIom mentioned, it would be a good idea to get a local band to add a bit of ooomph to it as well.

Haha ya that could work something really catchy it's just a along the lines of suggestion.
Be great for the supporters to be able to belt out a good infectious chant that everyone can't help but join in too.

A'OOO and ABUU both close to ahyo aswell :cheer:

We need a short and sweet fun chant nothing elaborate we have the fields for a song it needs to be mixed with a good chant. Exeter chant is fantastic, Suftum short snappy and effective, same goes for COYBIB.
Something to fire the blood would be good
I like something along the lines of the Spartan war chant A'OOO! A'OOO! A'OOO! With Connacht this is where we fight! or Connacht what is your profession! shouted in unison before now that would intimidate B) plus the 300 are like our lads odds are against us a lot but we fight to the end

Now, the intro from Raining Blood by Slayer with a packed Clan Terrace clapping out the initial drum beats...

If we chant "Rouuuuuuuuuux", then by law, someone should at the end meekly say "I was saying Roux-urns"...

All goes a bit mad there at 1:07 though....

Could we get a local band to take the lyrics of West's Awake and supercharge it?

Here we go with Connacht rugby,
We're gonna give the boys a hand,
Stand up and sing for Connacht rugby,
They are the greatest in the land

na na na

Everyday, we're all gonna say,
We love you Connacht! Connacht! Connacht!
Everywhere, we're gonna be there,
We love you Connacht! Connacht! Connacht!

Marching On Together!
We're gonna see you winna
na na na na na
We are so proud,
We shout it out loud
We love you Connacht! Connacht! Connacht!

We've been through it all together,
And we've had our ups and downs (UPS AND DOWNS!)
We're gonna stay with you forever,
At least until the world stops going round

na na na

Everyday, we're all gonna say
We love you Connacht! Connacht! Connacht!
Everywhere, we're gonna be there,
We love you Connacht! Connacht! Connacht!

Marching On Together!
We're gonna see you win
na na na na na na

We are so proud,
We shout it out loud
We love you Connacht! Connacht! Connacht!
We are so proud,
We shout it out loud
,We love you Connacht! Connacht! Connacht!

At one stage Connacht fans in the south end of the terrace were singing "Mayo" and those in the centre were replying with "Sligo". And the Exeter fans joined in, they're a great bunch.

Note: even though the Exeter name has nowt to do with Native Americans (depending on which story you believe, their best amateur team back in the 30s either (a.) referred to their first team as their chief team - hence chiefs for firsts or (b) was packed with army officers because of a new training facility nearby - hence chiefs bestowed by begrudging rivals) they really do go for the theme with gusto. Their (delicious) in-stadium ale - provided by Otter brewery - is called "HiawOtter".

The fecking speakers nearly ruined the Munster game, Connacht coming in before kick off - crowd getting beyond excited and starting a big "COOONNAAACHT" chant and Boom, in a Saracens styled brainfart, they blast Fields of Athenry on the speakers - drowning out own supporters..

I meant in the 5 minutes lull between the players leaving the pitch and returning. Better than watching a flipping eagle fly across the pitch.
I dont want any music played during the game.

In the 5 minute window people i'm talking about, people are generally just chatting amongst themselves. If the song was played, starting off quietly. People could start to joining in, and then the volumn could slowly started to rise as the song built, and more people joined in, and then let the speaker be shut off as we get to the end, so the crowd could sing without music, I think it could be impressive
It could take a year or two to take off. Could be describing the idea badly

A bit like Liverpool do with You Never Walk Alone, or Scotland do with Flower Of Scotland (not a great example)

@ConnachtCows - Always looking for new followers :)

If it isn't incorrectly set and over-loud sound levels meaning you hear everything twice (once from your side, once echo-like from the other side), or drowning out our own supporters singing, or the Cavan Rugby Club choir shivering on the pitch while moronic advertising is played to an uncaring audience, or the announcer confusing Quinn Roux with Ally Muldowney (seriously, scrum-cap + beard vs. bare-headed + clean-shaven, is it that hard?), or the uncensored version of rap tracks blaring over the warmup ("who does he want to take what where, Daddy?"), it is, as was pointed out to me the other week, a promotional video for Connacht with added storm noises being played over the actual bloody storm noises.

Is it too much to ask that they:
(1) Read out the teams during the warmup, and then:
(2) Switch. The. Damn. System. Off. Altogether. ????

Anyone over in Exeter know that there fans are loud. As they are known as the chiefs, there main (unreal) chant is an Indian call. O000000000hhhhhh00000hhh 000hhh etc etc. Think the clan counterchanted it at sandy park by going maaayyyyoooo maaaayyyyoooo maaaayyyyooo. Same thing Sunday lads

Plus, not a song as such, but shouting "Rouuuux" (like the Springboks shout "Beast" for Mtawairira) whenever Quinn gets the ball is great fun ha

lyrics, speakers all is good to try but on the long term. A crowd needs time to feel the song as its own. And I agree, it would be perfectly appropriate for stoppage moments, with the fields of Athenry when "time's on"
