Any way you could put a breathalyzer of some sort. I get very angry watching a few games with a few beers on me (Munster, Aironi etc.)

So I posted a while ago about how bold characters are changed to being wrapped in a tag when editing, which isn't interpreted as bold the second time round. It's getting aggravating now and ruining edited posts.
And as a flighty senior-moment filled member of this board I have to do lots of edits.
Not only that but I've had frequent posts written and then lost after I get a "Session expired" notice straight after posting. Not helpful, grrr. Even if I click back I've lost what I write. Fans of my (always excellent) musings are missing out!

As a matter of interest what Internet Browser do you use? Think that might have a bearing on your timing out issue possibly that or your bowser settings (is it enabled to recieve cookies?)...

Quick Question. Anyone know if phase 2 of the clan stand...covered seated area on top of the terrace is going to happen this summer. I remember seeing it in the original plans but no word of it since.

Depends if the money becomes available really, wouldn't have a clue what the outlay required would be and not an engineer but I imagine it would require a completely different structure to the existing one though to support a seated tier over a terrace..?

id say a far more likely scenario is the temp stand being replaced wit a permanent version with toilets underneath. whether it happens this summer depends on money.
i saw the plans for the upper deck too and i have to admit that while it looks good i wouldnt like to be sitting up there with the wind and rain.

Thanks for the replies. I think it would be a real statement of intent to develop the stand further, especially when you look at the plans for Ravenhill. I have a few mates who are loath to bring their young kids to the sportsground, a permanent all seated section as the plans already suggested would certainly help to make a Conn game more of a family friendly event.
Plus would hopefully get more of the kids out of the clan terrace!!
suppose it all depends on HEC for income and increased Season Ticket sales.

Doubt very much that seated area will be for kids at all, seats in a specific sized area invariably mean a smaller capacity so usually tickets for same cost much more. A small covered Terrace is ideal for kids, but there should be a reserved/partioned section for families only.

agree wit sea point. seated stand will be more expensive area.
if they could come up with some sort of retractable cover(a larger version of some super pubs smoking area covering for example) on the college road end with a permanent safe access point from the club house side then that would make a very good, and badly needed, family terrace. i dont think it would cost very much to do and would provide a steady source of new spectators into the future.
I agree it would also move the kids out of the clan terrace which is the bonus.

just a little idea here. dont know is it possibe and if people will like it or not.
id think a new heading in 'on the pitch' where 'connacht rugby board' and 'other rugby' are.
tittled 2011-2012 and have all match thread to be there, think we had all 28 senior one and few a games.
also to put in the transfer rumour 2011-2012 in and one or two other like ummm, stas from this season. no point moving to much as then it will lose the whole point of it.
just an idea. would like to hear idea's from others and the mods if this is possible

The Clan AGM brought up some points regarding the Clan Stand. In no particular order:
- Walkways are not clear
- Children are running free around the grounds (this is a parent's responsibility IMO)
- Stewards not pro-active enough in moving people out of congested areas.
- The crush towards the center of the pitch when the ends are empty (vertical divisions?)
- No "family-friendly" area.
What is the boards opinion on this stuff?

I've never been able to get a Clan Terrace ticket, so I wouldn't know
It's a fine line to walk between letting kids enjoy themselves and restricting them too much, but we don't want them doing anything disrespectful. I agree the parents should feel responsible, but if there are no clear guidelines on what is expected of them then each parent will have their own expectations.
At the end of the day it should be all about having as good a time out as possible, but not treating the place as your own personal playground.

I think something definitely has to be done about the walkways in the Clan. I had an interesting "conversation" during half time of one of our busier games. I had been in a fairly central spot in the clan for the first half of the game. I went to the toilet at half time and I was returning to "my" spot. By this time of the season, the walkways had been painted yellow, but they were completely blocked with people. I said "excuse me" as I went to walk by some guy who happened to be at the bottom of the steps. He decided that the terrace was full, and told me so in no uncertain terms. He wasn't a steward, just some randomer. I could tell by looking at where I had been standing that there was plenty of space, so I told him that, and also informed him that he was blocking the walkway. I walked on, and sure enough, there was ample room where I had been.
I don't really blame the guy, although he probably should have minded his business. The point is, the placement of the barriers on the terrace, and the lack of policing of the walkways means people can't get in and out easily. This is frustrating for everyone, and probably a safety issue. But most importantly it means it's very difficult to go and get a pint during busy games!

Back int' day, when I were a lad on match days Sportsground used to be a great playground. Don't see why it should be any different now if there's enough space.
Either you secure (with fencing) access to areas outside the main stadium area or just accept that younger kids will be kids and get bored at some games and just want to run around. As long as they're a) Safe and b) Not pis*ing off paying punters then let them be....
