Website Spam/Slowness

Hey guys.
I have noticed an increase in spam on the site and also some slowness loading the pages. This may be because Blacknight came under a denial of service attack recently but I suspect that it may be issue with this site setup as well. I have cleared out the caches, deleted the spamming users, and I have also turned off spamming checks for the trusted users (not too many of those! : 
) in an effort to help the situation.
It would be great if in future you notice slowness or other issues that you could drop a note in this thread, so that I can see if there is a common set of circumstances that causes it.

Looks like there are other issues affecting the site now, the header and frontpage seem to have disappeared. I'll see if there's anything I can do, but more than likely we'll have to wait until Diom gets back from holidays to get in touch with the provider.

Yeah it almost looks like a mobile version of the forum on my screen right now. As Decadence said, there's no header etc. Also, the home page didn't load for me when I tried to go there.

Home page not loading for me on any device. Just a white screen. Can only access site via Google search for Clan topics.

No we are on a shared server with Blacknight so there will be no rebooting. I have a backup of the site from about two weeks ago, but this would remove the posts made since then so we are having a meeting this evening and will discuss it.pinky wrote: So does anyone have access to log on to the web server and reboot her?

FYI the loss of the templates has killed the Clan App as well, in case you need extra incentive to make the hard decisions

Will it remove posts on the Forum, which doesn't seem to have been affected? Would have thought would only apply to the site itself and any news stories there...

Yes, because the forum is part of the joomla installation and so the posts are part of the database backup. I had a look at the backup script that is created by the backup tools and it saves the DB state for the forum as well, so unfortunately we are looking at losing a good chunk of data.
The other option is to nuke the site and start again which is not really any better. I have been looking at other solutions (shhh cause I am at work), and I cannot find what is wrong with our setup.

Looking at the Blacknight website is says you can host up to 30 websites (not sure if this is the package we are on).
If so, could we leave this forum in place while getting a new site up and running and maybe port the posts across after if we can figure out how?
I have minimal Joomla/Kunena knowledge but can help with it if you need me.
Also I think eezipc volunteered his Joomla experience a while back so might be able to help if he's still about.
In the short term, if we could even redirect connachtclan.com to connachtclan.com/forum that might stop some people getting lost. The link from conachtrugby.ie is broken at present.

Sorry I made a mistake. Blacknight is not hosting the site (they host my own stuff, and hosted the old site). When Mike Monaghan re-designed the site using joomla he moved it to HostingIreland.
We can of course do that, and we have pretty much decided last night to get the website sorted once and for all as soon as we can. However we cannot have a new season start without any website and that process will take too long to get completed before the season. So we need a short term solution that will allow us to move forward with this season. If there are no other solutions by the start of next week we will probably just restore the old site and sacrifice the sage posts since then.
In that case though I will backup the site again and see if I can port over the posts after that process completes.

I reckon the only posts that we would need to hang o to would be the HEC away planning threads. Everything else is just us lot talking rubbish, not worth keeping!

Okay we have restored the site without affecting the DB that stores the forum posts/articles, so we should be all clear, and the posts should all still be here.
If you notice any more problems then let me know.
