Hi ,

I am a Perpignan fan based in London , I was just wondering if there is any helpful information you could share which would be of help to my Perpignan based friends making the trip to the game ?
Are the public travel links to The Sportsground better from Shannon Airport than those at Knock Airport ?
Staying in and around Central Galway (Eyre Square ) is in walking distance to the sportsground ?
Where is good for The Craic !!! pre match and after the game ?

Dessie Hynes .

Ps. There is a good chance I will be at the Connaught v Leinster game at the end of September as my cousin is getting married the day before in Mulranny ! If any one would like a chat and a beer .
Just for the record , my brothers will be attending the games with me , both Galway born and will be cheering on Connacht !!!

Hi ,
I'm a Perpignan supporter based in London making the trip to the Sportsground in December .

I was wondering if there is any helpful info I could share with my Perpignan based friends making the trip ?

Are public transport links better to Galway City from Shannon Airport rather than Knock Airport ?

Is Galway City (Eyre Sq.) within walking distance to the Sportsground ?

Where is good for the Craic !!!! pre and after the match ?

Any other snippets of wisdom will be gratefully received !

Hi Des,

Apologies, we Mods have been a bit lax in picking up the initial posts of new registrants (summer holiday heads are on... )
As protection against Spam accounts when a new account is created it is automatically blocked pending review by a moderator.
I've collated your messages into one thread; and moved it into the Travel discussion section.

I'll let the local heads give you guidance to your queries (like you UK based)....

But there's also some basic info to start you off n the Vistors INfo pages: www.connachtclan.com/visitors-info

Cheers
Ronan

Buses to/from Shannon are much more frequent than from Knock.

Is Galway City (Eyre Sq.) within walking distance to the Sportsground ?

Ten minutes from Eyre Square to the Sportsground at a brisk(ish) walk.

Where is good for the Craic !!!! pre and after the match ?

The traditional Galway rugby pub is O'Connell's on Eyre Square. Round the corner on Forster Street (and on the way to the Sportsground) is An Pucan, the former Connacht Clan (supporters club) bar which is very lively. A few doors further on your way is Murty Rabbitte's, the current supporters club bar. When you get to the ground there is a supporters club bar (the actual Clan bar) behind the Clan Terrace. That itinerary should have your vocal cords nicely lubricated for kickoff.

My own preference is to travel out of Dublin the public transport links are far more frequent than either Knock or Shannon.

Agreed on Dublin being the best connected airport. There are probably 30+ buses a day from Dublin airport to Galway with a good portion of those being express services. Check out bus eireann(route 20, the x20s are express), city link and gobus. The latter two go through the night I believe.
