What was decided last year wrote:

  • Players are eligible if they have left Connacht or are retiring at the end of the current season.
  • No limits on numbers inducted
  • Each year a "short-list nominations" thread will be opened by the committee, where forum members can nominate any eligible player for the voting short-list.
  • The short-list will be drawn up by the committee using the feedback from the nominations thread.
  • There will be one vote per member of the forum and highest place players will win.
  • At the committee's discretion there may be a "run-off" vote.

So given the above rules please nominate who you would think we should induct this year.
The obvious one is Gavin Duffy, who despite retiring has stayed involved with the club. Other suggestions:
  • Troy Nathan
  • Ciaran Fitzgerald
  • Matt Mostyn

Could we claim Simon Geoghegan??
Please feel free to nominate and/or second someone for inclusion. Otherwise we're going with James So'oialo.

I'd have to go with Swifty and Duffy

Going to have to flip a coin to decide

Current Hall of Fame members are:

Ray Ofisa
Keith Matthews
Johnny O'Connor
Eric Elwood

You're right though, we should have a list of them, and the POTY winners, on the site.

Not sure can Swifty be considered until he makes it official that he's retiring.

Dennis, we'll gather feedback on this for a week or two then draw up a shortlist after that.

Gavin Duffy would be a popular one I think.

I'm no rugby/connacht historian, but I remember Noel Mannion coming to visit us in Corinthians back in the late 80's when he was playing for Ireland. I'm assuming he also played for Connacht and was held in high regard? I like the idea of the hall of fame including players from the past, as well as lads who have retired recently.

Does someone with more knowledge than me know how many times Ray McLoughlin played for us? Would he be asuitable given all he achieved (and his more advanced age compared to other candidates)?

Conor McPhilips
Gavin Duffy
Swifty
Ciaran Fitzgerald

Is there an argument for our all time point scorer Ian Keatley?
Or Warwick even?

You cannot be serious about Troy Nathan being on the list, are you, really??????

I would suggest the following Connacht legends:
Ciaran Fitzgerald
Ray McLoughlin

I'd wait on Swifty too.

One older one recent sounds good to me. So like a few others Duffy and Fitzgerald get my vote
