out of the unsponsored players Kyle Tonetti is the one that stands out, i guess that's due to him being injuured and not seeing much games time in the last 18 months

When will Matt Healy be coming to Brussels so I can have my photo?

The Committee is currently split between an elaborate ruse involving tranquilizers in his water bottle, or the tried and true method of digging a pit, covering it with leaves and letting time and inevitability do its thing.

Don't know are we thinking of running something like this again this season? Matt Healy was a good sponsorship last season but in terms of the objective of promoting the Connacht Clan I don't know did it help. (i.e. sponsors are no longer called out after a score which was effective and I don't think the Clan got the appearances expected either unfortunately)
I know an idea such as a sponsorship for academy players was suggested as used by other clubs?
Is it a runner or is it worthwhile?

In terms of promoting the Connacht Clan I think that sponsoring a player is probably better for us as we get our name in the programme every week. We didn't get much of a return from Matt but in fairness that was as much our fault for not chasing it down. We actually had quite a productive meeting with Connacht Rugby yesterday evening and sponsorship came up (they even brought Gavin in make the hard sell).
So my own opinion on it would be that we should do it again but we have to try to squeeze more out of it this time.

We had planned to put the excess funds generated by last years donations towards sponsoring another player this year, and to use Clan funds to make up the difference. As Diom has said, it gives us good exposure and we can try harder to make use of it this time around.
What if we were to open up the donations again this year with a view to putting ALL of the proceeds generated this time around towards an academy player(s)?

I think we should definitely open it up again this year and if people are willing to throw a few euros into the kitty again or for the first time they are more than welcome to.

my thoughts on this, if you go with academy then it has to be a player with real prospects of playing 1st team this year, also while most of the Pro guys wil get sponsorship this year there's one or 2 that won't\can't and that's where our sponsorship could be used.

Niyi Adeolokun or shane Layden are good prospect for visibility (try scorers and line breakers)

I'd feel guilty about leaving Matt out in the cold if we do it again!
If you want an up and coming player I can't see beyond SOB, but if you want to really reap the benefits of appearances then you need to get the biggest name you can. Getting the clan to sponsor the captain would be a good start
Anyway, just let me know the bank account number.

Only thing about Layden is that he is often crook, and with Mils, Poolman, Healy etc... etc... the back three is very well covered.

According to the player profiles on the CR website, Jack Carty currently doesn't have sponsorship. Connacht born and bred, academy graduate and should hopefully be fairly dominant in the first team this season.
