Unless Kearney got injured he was never in with a shout and we know it, but ehhhhh yeah, take your point :)

Didn't somebody say it'd be a waste of money flying somebody out if he wasn't played?

I have been very critical of Kidney over the last few years for persisting with Wallace, but he has been playing well, and I recall him having a great game against the all blacks last time we were down there, so I agree with the decision this time. Fingers crossed for another big performance, and hopefully a win this time.

It is a waste time and money. Flying Gav, Brett & Macca out when they could have been doing preseason training is ridiculous.

I'm sure they wouldn't want it to be any different, they want to take their chances. But we all know there has to be an injury list of epic proportions before the coaches will even begin to remember there's a fourth province to choose from.

Wallace has had the season of his career I've no problem with him playing 12. Would have preferred to have SOB at 8 though and O'Mahony at 7.
The scrum penalty is getting alot of hype but there were other silly penalties given away by us such as the McLaughlin one in the line-out. Admittedly Ali Williams could have gotten a yellow for his penalty and then tantrum after but that was never going to happen in New Zealand. Here's hoping for another good performance.

SOB played a blinder at 7 last weekend, so am happy enough to see him there. I feel Trimble is hard done by to be honest. He had a decent game last week and was solid defensively. None of the back three were able to make much of a mark in attack, so I feel Trimble should have retained his starting position.

My problem with Wallace is not that he's starting, by most accounts he had a very good season. My problem is why didn't Kidney have him in the original squad? If he is good enough now why not have him from the start when there were questions about D'Arcy's fitness and he ended up not playing the first game? I guess I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he wanted to play someone more likely to be around for the next RWC and it just didn't work out and now he thinks Ireland have a legitimate chance of beating the ABs so it's no longer the time for cutting teeth.

Trimble did well and to be frank would be a better option on the bench since he can cover 13 as well as the two wings but he doesn't play for Munster so he shouldn't be in the team. As for Wallace he is 32 but so is Darcy. So put it down to hubris

Total embarrassment - Gatty was sacked for having results like that.

Gatland was sacked after we had beaten a quality English side, won 4 out of 5 in the 6 nations and run New Zealand to 9 points at Landsdowne Road having lead for a lot of the match.

Past time for Kidney to leave and someone like Schmidt could help revitalise us but having said that its not a glamorous job these days, there is just so many ordinary players in this Irish squad its hard to see us being competitive with the top teams anytime soon.

And the reason given for his sacking was the IRFU were fed up with getting hammered on a regular basis, and that we couldn't play at a consistently high level

Sonny Bill is off to Japan. Sure he'll be compensated well, but it's still refreshing to know that a man's word and handshake mean something.
