Good article here on Irish players abroad shows what happens if you take a chance and don't hang around the fringes of a squad forever i.e. every Munster player not in the first XV. I have to say I never heard of Sean Dougall but I'll be keeping an eye on him after this.

In other news Leinster had signed an IQ Second Row called Tom Denton from Leeds Carnegie. Means that well be able to hold onto Mick Kearney for another couple seasons then!
Any other irish player abroad tearing it up?

Sweet. He's entering his peak years as a prop now so hopefully he can kick on and do the business with the Dragons.

Dave Ryan appears to have signed for Zebre Rugby for the coming season. Great to see him back in the Pro12. I cant find anything formal on it but he is listed on their squad in wikipedia.
If accurated we will see him up close in sportsground soon.

Apparently he's trained with the USA Team as he's U.S. eligible. I don't know if he's been capped or anything but if he isn't then sweet another Irish Prop coming through and showing potential is always welcome.

His mother is an american citizen afaik. He declared for Usa before world cup hoping to be selected by cooder and thus put himself in the shop window for a Pro12/aviva/top14 team.It didnt work as he wasnt selected. He was only playing semi pro rugby with Lazio so needed a way back in.
He has it now with Zebre so will be interesting to see if he still wants to Play for yanks.

Sweet! I always thought he was under-rated so hopefully this is the break he needed.

Stewart Maguire was born in Wales and after his turn in Connacht I wouldn't be surprised in seeing him change his allegiances back to the Welsh. I think the IRFU need to input a policy of giving guys who come from abroad either and A cap or a 7's and tying them to Ireland. Sure not all of them are going to make it but there will always be the guy who will such as Tom Court.

Don't really agree. Don't agree with the project thing as a whole, think you should have some allegiance to the country other than working there for 3 years to qualify for international rugby but I suppose it is as it is. I want players committed to Ireland rather than lads after a few handy international caps to strengthen their hand in negotiations for contracts.
I think capping evey player who might go elsewhere would downplay international rugby and would piss off genuine lads who are trying to trying to achieve international representation on merit. If we started giving every player games just so they wouldn't qualify for another country it would rightly mess us up. Say for example if Peter Borlase had been picked (just to unqualify him for anyone else) ahead of Ronan Loughney for one of the A games earlier in the year, we'd all rightly be up in arms.
If a player can add something like Isaac Boss or Tom Court (even Brett Wilkinson) they will be capped. 3 years is enough for a player to show if he can offer something. If Poolman shows enough with Connacht he will get a chance at some level with Ireland.
Doran-Jones? the prop is the only one I can think we missed out on but he moved to England at a young age so it would have been almost impossible to cap him. Armetiev from Russia maybe another one but don't think that would have helped us and would be viewed very cynically in international rugby circles.
Really Maguire / Ah You haven't shown enough to be a regular in the Connacht 23 never mind an Irish A selection. Maguire may get more gametime at Dragons and improve his game but If he ever represents Wales at senior level It'll be a major shock to all.

Way fewer than many people think, the squad for the ireland tour had 1 born in England, 1 for Oz and 28 born in NZ
