This news saddens me. Flannery is a warrior who fought so hard to get back. Ireland will miss his competitive edge and veteran leadership.

Agreed Breifne Fla will be sorely missed. Best has shown (on loads of occasions) that he is not internal standard sadly.
Cronin will now go the bench at the weekend and Varley is at home packing his bag for the flight over

Dammit! I have Varley in my fantasy team.

Very sad for Flannery - his thoughts must be moving towards retirement at this stage after the run of injuries he's had.
I bet Kidney regrets not giving Sean any decent game time now.

Well, he's going to run Best into the ground and not use Cronin at all, barring maybe 5 mins here or there, so I don't think it'll matter.
Anyway Cronin isn't up to international rugby. I can say that now that he plays for Leinster.

Cronin will get a game against Russia, but I dont see him getting any other opportunites, barring an injury to Best.
Where does Flavin list on DK's hooker preference?

Another area of the feild that DK failed to "blood" young talent at international level in the last 6N and the last 2 Autumn series of fixtures....

Kidney doesn't like to introduce new players unless there's an injury crises regardless of form of current squad...

Very sad for Flannery, but this opportunity could be the making of Cronin, there's no way Best can last 80 on Saturday with the kind of intensity that will be required...

I feel very sorry for flannery. Best of
Luck.
It was a risk bringing ferris, Kearney and Flannery without them playing any significant part prior to the squad announcement. I hope that the other two hold up.
