Slightly more surprising is Healy covering both sides of the scrum...

That's probably eight players away from the starting XV in reality..

It's first game out and you can't win a 6 Nations but you can sure as hell lose it so no coach will risk shaking things up too much.

Macca and PO'C will never pair against the giant Hamilton & Gray in the 2nd Row. Too Tall and PO'C will face the sweaties pair..

Likely Squad:
Kearney R, McFadden, D'Arcy. BO'D, Fitzgerald, Sexton, Murray,
Heaslip, PO'M, Henry, PO'C, Toner, Ross, Best and Healy

Bench: Moore, McGrath, Cronin, Henderson, Ruddock, Jackson, Reddan, Henshaw

He really should have got the patent before revealing his cloning plan, admirable though it is. Reckon Madigan and O'Donnell will be on the bench instead of Ruddock and Jackson (Madigan's versatility threatening Henshaw's inclusion) and Moore might have a chance of starting, but otherwise that'll be the 23.

I would have thought after S_P was nice enough to point out that Healy was pulling double duty that someone would have mentioned that he was running out a 7 man pack.

Starting 15 will hold few if any surprises. There's more room for them on the bench. For me Henshaw would be one. IMO he has a better chance if Jackson is on the bench, but if it's Madigan they'd more likely go for whoever's not starting among Fitzgerald, McFadden or Kearney the younger.

From the Irish Independent:

Eoin Reddan has been forced out of this weekend's clash with Scotland because of a calf injury and has been replaced in the squad by Leinster team mate Isaac Boss.

No surprise really, but it does mean Marmion is on standby

So it's plan A or slightly-less-effective plan A at scrum half then.

Precisely Salmson!
I would've thought Marmion was like-for-like for Reddan and Boss same for Murray.
Beginning to wonder if Schmidt is as smart as everyone talks him up to be.

Boss rotates with Reddan at Leinster and knows the system that Schmidt is implementing. So it makes sense at this short notice to go with the multi-capped experienced Boss. Marmion will get his chance but injuries aside it will most likely be this summer againste Argentina injuries and form permitting.

I think that Marmions brief cameo for the wolfhounds showed up a slight flaw in his game.

box kicking the ball to the opposition 6 pts up and 2mins was a huge tactical error. cant make those errors in Int rugby.

His day will come, prob later this year in the autumn ints.

Reddan out and now it looks like McCarthy and Fitzgerald joining him. One would imagine that means Henderson on the bench with maybe McFadden in the starting XV or 23 at least.
