saw the report earlier but not the video images. thks for that.

if the reality is even close it will be some job. best of luck to them.

if connacht got to build the proposed stand on top of clan terrace and built two stands, similar to one in same plans of clan stand,
on either side of current doggie stand it would be the best we could hope for and be a fine ground at that. that would put capacity up at 10k which wud prob meet our needs for the forceable future in all scenarios.

with a galway president, mayo taoiseach and mayo minister for sport there will never be a better time.

dont let them kid us, by all accounts mayo is being well looked after atm and good look to them but maybe its time to start pushing harder for funds. who knows how long they will remain.

And a Galwegian IRFU president. Although he hasn't reassured me with his mumblings about Connacht hiring an Irish coach.

I believe Galwegians have had more IRFU presidents than any other rugby club for all the good it's done us over the years.... Anyway I hear Ulster are looking for a 'naming partner' for the redeveloped ground. I also support Newcastle United and I'm sure any Football supporters on here had a good laugh after our beloved St. James Park was renamed The Sports Direct Arena in an effort to flog the naming rights. It was a hugely divisive and mostly unpopular decision. Would the same apply here? Will the Ulster fans be happy about this? What would ye think about the Sportsground being renamed for a fee?

id sell the name, id take any money we can get, its just a name and its not earning anything.

its like lansdowne road, how many people call it aviva, after x ammount of years the money will be in the bank and contract will be up/renewed for more money.

Take the cash, the fans will call it whatever they like.

I still say Lansdowne Road, not because of any moralistic stance, just because that's what it's always been to me.

No problem with selling the naming rights to the Sportsground, couldn't be any worse than it being known as the dog track/park.

Maybe we should hitch a ride on the uptick at Ulster and buy the naming rights to Ravenhill for the next 4-5 years. The Connacht Clan Rugby Park at Ravenhill has a nice ring to it.

I mooted selling the naming rights years ago on the last forum and all I got was dogs abuse! (no pun intended). How times have changed! I'm all for selling the rights to the Sportsground it's a generic name anyway. Last time I mentioned it though people said that the greyhound boys and the people that owned the stadium were against it. Of course that was a few years ago and things/people have changed/moved on.

In fairness to the high number of Galwegian / Connacht IRFU Presidents, that has been the case mainly because of disagreement between the other three provinces when the horse trading about their own candidates broke down...
