we need 1 or 2 locks, a LH, maybe a 9 and 10, a centre/back-3 would be luxury. But certainly not a 7
He would be the best 7 and the best 8 in the squad in my opinion. I agree that loosehead and lock are priorities but if we get those holes filled Murphy is the sort of player I'd love to see us sign

In Heenan/Connolly I trust
We're not Toulon, we have to spend our money wisely
.
For the interest of those players and Ireland interest, this move shouldn't happen.
But if so, I'd say welcome, of course.

it's a shame that the IRFU doesn't seem to want to control the academies, you obviously can't tell players where to go but with NUIG as an option then players like Tom Farrell would have seen out 3/4 years in the Connacht academy and would have got a senior contract. Also with the strength in depth at backrow at Leinster you would have hoped that players like Caolen Doris would be encouraged to head west or north I guess, i'm leaving munster out of it as they have strength also.

Apparently Doris rejected us last summer, not much you can do about that. Lads are usually already in college by the time they're being signed to academies which seems to be the biggest stumbling block in the way of getting them to move

None of those players featured at the weekend against Toulon and Aly tweeted that it had been a very tough week....Not a good news story one way or the other

Lads we only have to look back at the way that Mils was hounded and treated when there was nothing to the allegation at all.
we should wait and see how it pans out .

Fair enough, all posts regarding this issue deleted.
I understand your concern and I tend to be extremely cautious on this stuff - to the extent that over the weekend I asked someone to remove a statement which could be deduced by anyone who could read a teamsheet but was not reported anywhere in the media at that time (they did, immediately) - but if we can't report news from mainstream media in other countries, without additional comment or speculation, the site verges on unusable.

The problem is salmson that a lot of news in mainstream media is been and has been plucked from sites and forums such as our own and treated as fact. Of course there is never a credit given when its a cracking story but im sure they wouldnt be so shy if theres a defamation case thrown their way.
I agree that its a matter of simple extrapolation to work out who may well be involved but a simple error where someone says a player is laid off (sacked) as opposed to laid up (injured) could land us in a world of misery.
I agree its frustrating but we have to cover our asses in this respect, they would be no problem quoting a mainstream paper in transfer speculation or rugby related news but when it comes to criminal charges we have to err on the side of extreme caution.

Agreed on the ass-covering regarding transfer "sources" in a poor-quality national pulled from an "article" on Pundit Arena lifted from a posting on a provincial boards forum, but in the case of the posts I just deleted we're talking video footage of press conferences (along w/ transcripts to aid my poor French) with club presidents/owners.

This bit misrepresents me and really annoys me. When the identities of persons subject of the issue were simple extrapolation, I did not report on them at all, rather I asked someone else to remove part of a post and they did. When I reported players being laid off I used the language as reported by Sky - "let go", not sacked - having confirmed with a second source that this was the form of words used.
The vast majority of posters here do their research before posting, the mods could maybe be a little more aware of that.

The only thing relevant to this thread is that it's back to the drawing board regarding signing a loosehead

salmson not doubting the veracity of your posts at all nor that you havent researched it carefully, in fact some of the posts on the forum are streets ahead in content and accuracy of what you would find in some national newspapers.
Maybe we run for cover too quickly but we are but amateurs and the last thing we need is to be dealing with solicitors letters as a result of someone posting on here.

In fairness to anyone mentioning it it's on the RTE website now and had already been widely reported in France

Anybody hear about Nigel Carolan joining the senior setup?
Would be a loss to our Academy but would at least mean we'd have bit of structure over the preseason

Coulsons's lawyers saying he is a witness in the case rather than a suspect.
Edit: I see nobody else has linked to anything so removed the link. Article published in the sun with the details.

I have no idea how this will play out.. But I remember Mils. And I know the Olding Jackson issue also which is to play out. It is best left alone. It will happen. I have no idea how all this stuff will work out but it will work out. It has no consequence to Irish rugby, absolutely none of it has, It maybe true, it maybe false, but either ways it is not relevant to irish or provincial rugby. These are people. If they mess up then they mess up as people. It has nothing to do to with rugby. If they are convicted then so be it
